How credible is the incredible ticketing?!

Incredible isn’t it when Aamir tries to educate our youth, the children and their parents, elders and other citizens… to keep India’s monuments, cities, lanes, villages, waters and their surroundings clean and tidy. And, all this for? Yeah! Of course! You and I are no strangers to the fact that these places contributed US$37.3 billion in 2013 to our country’s GDP and will grow at the rate of 7.8-8% YoY for the next 20 years, as predicted by UNWTO. Travel-Tourism-Hospitality is the largest service industry in India and caters to varied tastes via adventure, serenity, cultural, medical, business or enterprise and sport tourisms. As the numbers say – almost 84.7 per cent of the total tourism revenues would come from the local population and the rest from our Atitis. Continue Reading…

Start of a Story at IMT

Bursting with excitement as well as nervousness of starting a new chapter, respite of making it through rigorous selections to get to IMT – where the summer heat exposed every bit of enthusiasm of joining one of the best management institutions in the country – the freshly entered lot marched like ants at separate counters, jostling between room to room, for the registration process. 65 years, yet not (re)public friendly!

[Caution – This might be a bit long and boring, but you can participate in a healthy debate in the comments’ section and make this entertaining. Please continue to read only if you have some 20 odd minutes in hand, else you can click the red cross at the top right hand corner and then continue cribbing that the Govt. is useless…]
In the actual sense of being a republic, though the power (indirectly) is in the hands of the people, the people itself should take some responsibility for worsening the conditions in few areas. 65 years are normally enough for one generation of human kind to structure itself into a lifestyle that is respectful, healthy and enjoying to live. Can we see that in our nation? Or will we ever see it in our nation? I doubt. Continue Reading…

Who’s Juvenile – Rapists or Law Makers?

Imagination is one thing which places humans in a different set, from every other species since the first plankton. Putting the same to use – Imagine that one of your female relative is walking down the street, past dusk, with no one accompanying her, through the dark lanes of the neighborhood. She could be surrounded by canine beasts; canine, yet friendly. What if she have had to pass through a horde of druggists or a clan of alcoholics or a gang of mobsters or, even for that matter, a group of simple, straight men? Three legged monsters are usually more terrifying than the ones possessing four limbs. While the woman may be extremely reluctant, in addition to being overtly helpless, these homo-sapiens could pounce on her, rip apart her clothes and have their share of fun. We might not be able to picture the sinister scenario intricately, in terms of the gruesomeness; only the one going through this would know the pain! Girls or women, who may be young, old or in their adolescence, have always, had an extra burden upon them to stay protected from their stronger counterparts. In most of the cases, that is the only thing this helpless gender could do. Not only females, in some cases, males are prone to similar attacks too, but chances of which are very minimal. These assaulters may be of any age. These days, the younger junta is being prominent too. Continue Reading…

Blockbuster, Super-Hit, Hit, Average – All this is Flop!

Entertainment: the magical word that has many forms. Something which is soothing to one’s senses can be aptly considered as entertainment. For some, entertainment is found in arts; for someone else, it is found in sports; for yet others, it could be established by reading a novel; but for most, the word ‘Entertainment’ is definitely synonymous to ‘Movies’. These days’ movies/films/cinemas/pictures/flicks/premiers/videos cover a wide range of genres which include Sci-Fis, Thrillers, Actions, Period-dramas, Romance, Comedies, Musicals, Religious-dramas, etc. or a mixture of the former ones. The population around the world is crazy about movies as they are an amalgamation of various other forms of entertainment, available in a single wholesome package! For the art lovers, the exuberant sets are a delight; for the sports fanatics and technology freaks, movies are a fantasy too; for people liking music, songs and background music are aptly fitted in; every movie serves a person as per one’s palate. Either consider peer-to-peer or going to a theatre; you either have the cash to buy beer or you don’t have it to even buy a bottle of mineral water; you either scare your child with Hollow-Man’s name or scare it with a name like Gabbar – movies are an integral part of every 21st century citizen. North-y vs. South-y: In India, why this difference-y?

At school, our teachers work hard on inculcating patriotic and nationalistic values within us. We are taught on how diversified this nation is and we stand proud to call ourselves as Indians; rich in varied culture and heritage, yet one as a nation. But, once we are out of the school’s cocoon, we meet people hailing from different regions, following dissimilar lifestyles, eating the same ingredients, but cooked in a different style; and then we start to segregate ourselves into states, regions and ethnic groups. One can feel the depth of this division when people are adamant about renting their houses to someone of a particular region or religion, when people are cynical on staying with others coming from a different plateau, when someone hates to hear a language which is not their mother-tongue or when one does not like to hang out with a person from a unalike zone; sprouting regionalistic attitudes in our adolescence. Is it so difficult to mingle with an entity, who may have slightly altered DNA pattern, but is still of the same species and most importantly of the same nation? Continue Reading…

Sex education – A vital dose!

A land of culture, a land of heritage and serenity; with nature’s beauty captured at the Western Ghats, where beaches at the coasts are always at play, monuments like the Taj and the magnificent palaces, temples like the Sun temple, the Golden temple, the ones at Khajuraho; and all that is historic, make this country rich and worthy. But, keeping all that aside, there is one thing in India that will surely bring all of the above to shambles in quite a few years – the ever-growing population. Continue Reading…

Is the new fad, for an Indian lad, a tad bit bad?

Innovation has a faster evolution record – even greater than that of man. Technological advances have been so enormous and they will continue to evolve, presenting things that man had, sometime, never thought of too. Man’s creativity has made the planet witness things; things for which people all over work hard, just to get their hands on every such item before they lay in the coffin. Lifestyles have drifted from the modest household ones to pretty affordable high standards. The severity of being born in the 21st century is that: one needs to adapt oneself to the advancements present every nook and corner. Else, one would either be considered ignorant and uncool or would be on the takers side of the joke and would be crowned a laughing-stock. Continue Reading…
